A study of frequency loading on gap-coupled microstrip resonators has been undertaken. The resonators were fabricated on alumina (#x3b5;r= 9.8) with varying coupling gaps of 0.1 to 0.6 mm. A computer analysis of the resonators using formulae for the gap capacitances yield resonant frequencies agreeing well with the measured reasonant frequencies. From the measured resonant frequencies, the gap equivalent lengthlgand the open end lengthlohave been computed for each of the resonant modes. These have been compared with values obtained front quasi-static formulations. The variation oflg with coupling gap has been studied experimentally and compares well with the results given in 3. The open end lengthloand the equivalent capacitanceCoare compared with those obtained using formulae of different authors, and compare very well.
