Exact quantum mechanical calculations of the vibrational predissociation of ArCl2are reported. The results confirm the hypothesis that Dgr;v=minus;2 dissociation of theBstate,vrsquo;=10 level occurs by preliminary coupling to the Dgr;v=minus;1 manifold followed by coupling to the Dgr;v=minus;2 continuum. The intensity borrowing due to the coupling is consistent with intramolecular vibrational relaxation (IVR) in the sparse limit, rgr;Vle;1.
