Surface tension of a simple fluid

摘要

A formally exact relationship is derived between the Kirkwoodndash;Buff formula for surface tension and the smallhyphen;wave number limit of the difference between surface excesses of the autocorrelation integrals of force components directed normal and tangential to the planar interface. By expressing these correlation integrals in terms of fluctuating manyhyphen;body coordinates, relationships are obtained between the Kirkwoodndash;Buff formula and the density fluctuation formula due to Yvon, Triezenberg and Zwanzig, and Lovett, de Haven, Vieceli, and Buff.
