Application of Swarm Intelligence in Mobile Adhoc Networks

Ad-hoc network is a small network, particularly one with wireless or temporary hook up connections, in which some of the network devices are part of the network only for the duration of a communications session or, in the case of mobile or portable devices, while in some close nearness to the rest of the network. Swarm Intelligence is the characteristic of a system whereby the communal behaviors of agents interacting locally with their surroundings cause logical functional universal patterns to appear. The communications range for each node is limited and each node has only a small number of neighbors that can communicate directly. Nodes are assumed to be mobile and nodes can move relative to each other. Mobility causes the topology of the network to be fairly dynamic. This paper discusses the application of swarm intelligences in adhoc networks. We focus on specific field of application and assess the viability of using ad hoc networks in that field. The swarm intelligence can be applied in operating adhoc networks and this is a very new and fantastic field for researchers.
