The mean electron polarizabilities and the mean magnetic susceptibilities of the aliphatic Csngbnd;C and Csngbnd;H bonds, together with their anisotropies, have been combined with the Kirkwood and Gansmdash;Mrowka equations, and this set of equations has been solved for the longitudinal and transverse bond polarizabilities and susceptibilities. The best values for these quantities, obtained by a leasthyphen;squares treatment, as well as the electric and magnetic anisotropies are discussed and compared with the respective quantities derived theoretically and semiempirically.
