By rapid cooling from the melt, singlehyphen;phase simple cubic structures (one atom/unit cell) have been obtained for alloys in the ranges, 15ndash;40 at. Au;Te and 20ndash;30 at. Ag;Te. Type measurements and resistivity estimates indicate that the simple cubic phases are metallic. Lattice spacings of the simple cubic phases have been determined for singlehyphen;phase and multiphase alloys. The 37.5 at. Au;Te alloy is relatively more stable than the other metastable phases, as shown by annealing experiments.
