The spinhyphen;lattice relaxation times (T1) for15N in15NH3and14ND3have been determined and are presented and discussed. The magnitudes and temperature dependences ofT1for15NH3and15ND3indicate that spinhyphen;rotational and intramolecular dipolar interactions together dominate the15N relaxation in15NH3. Sinceggr;Dap; 0.15thinsp;ggr;H, the dipolar term is small compared with the spinhyphen;rotational term in15ND3at room temperature. This allows one to separate the spinhyphen;rotational and dipolar contributions in15NH3. Values of tgr;c, tgr;sr, andCNare then derived from the experimental data for15NH3and compared with values derived in other work.
