Absolute rate parameters for the reaction of ground state atomic oxygen with carbonyl sulfide

The rate parameters for the reaction of O(3P) with carbonyl sulfide, O(3P) plus; OCS rarr; CO plus; SO, (1) have been determined directly by monitoring O(3P) using the flash photolysishyphen;resonance fluorescence technique. The value fork1was measured over a temperature range of 263ndash;502deg;K and the data were fitted to an Arrhenius expression with good linearity,k1equals; (1.65plusmn;0.13)times;10minus;11exp(minus;4305plusmn;55sol;R T) cm3moleculeminus;1middot;secminus;1. A comparison of the present results with those from previous studies of Reaction (1) is also presented.
