Field observations, over a 5-year period, showed that apothecia ofSclerotinia minorare produced in large numbers only in spring, during September and October and, occasionally, early November. More apothecia developed from sclerotia placed in the field in May and June than from sclerotia placed in the field in January, February, March, April, and July. Under controlled temperature conditions in the laboratory, apothecial stipes were produced by sclerotia incubated at 10#xB0;-19#xB0;c with a sharp optimum at 15#xB0;c.
