Effect of aromatic acids on low-temperature breakdown in apples

Various aromatic acids were injected into Jonathan apples to determine their effect on breakdown. All compounds increased the incidence of the disorder except for o-hydroxy-benzoate (salicylate), which caused a reduction in breakdown.
