The efficacy of Lamstreptocide~R a new drug from National Research Institute, Vom, Nigeria, was studied in White Fulani Cattle naturally infected with Dermatophilus congolensis in the Teaching and Research Farm of the University of Ibadan between March and September, 1993. The drug was applied twice per week fora period of four to eight weeks before complete cure was noticed. Lamstreptocide~R was found to be effective. Out of eight cattle treated, six (75) were completely cured while two (25) whichwere chronically infected were resistant to chemotherapy. Season and method of management seemed to influence the efficacy of the product. A faster cure rate was observed in housed infected cattle as compared with outdoor ones. There was no evidence ofrelapse up to five months after the termination of the study.
