The number of private homes completed in April has fallen to its lowest point for a decade, according to figures compiled exclusively for Building by the NHBC. This month's statistics show that starts on homes for private sale fell to 8,443, the lowest figure, outside of a December, since accessible monthly records began in 1998. The figure was lower in December 2001 (7,411) and December 2005 (8,296), but starts are always lower then because of the Christmas break.
