The impact of dispositional emotional expressivity and social constraints on distress among prostatecancer patients in Iceland

Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and a second leading cause ofcancer deaths among men in the western world, including Iceland. For the past twodecades, the incidence of prostate cancer has been increasing faster than any othercancer in Europe (Bracarda et al., 2005). In Iceland, where the lifetime prevalence forprostate cancer is about 12% with 190 men diagnosed each year, the incidence ofprostate cancer is currently among the highest in the world, or similar to that in Norway,Sweden, and Finland (Icelandic Cancer Registry, 2008).
