The job of a technical superintendent is one that doesn't have a job specification - it encompasses a wide remit, but generally boils down to the safe and efficient running of ships under the superintendent's charge: the safety aspects, the financial aspects, the maintenance aspects; the day to day liaison between the ship and the classification societies, the operation of dry-dock specifications, overseeing the dry-docking; looking after budgets and liaising with the personnel department to crew the ships.
