I did a tour as a forward air controller (FAC) in Vietnam in 1969 and 1970, flying the military version of the Cessna 337, the O-2. We did about three days of ground school, then flew out of an aux field in Florida that belonged to the Navy. When I showed up in February of 1969, it was a rainy day with bedraggled O-2s, O-1s and U-10s scattered around the rain-soaked ramp. It looked like a scene out of some World War Ⅱ film.
