Egyptians make a bid to copyright antiquities

The Egyptian Parliament is considering legislation that will make it illegal to produce exact replicas or sell images of recognisable Egyptian antiquities.Zahi Hawass,head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities,has been reported as saying that Egypt wants to retain copyright to its historic monuments and that the funds generated would be used for the preservation of historic sites.
