Fluorescent pseudomonads isolated fromCarthamus tinctoriusL. (safflower),Centaurea cyanusL. (cornflower),Chrysanthemum #xD7; morifoliumRamat. (florist's chrysanthemum),Primula ' polyanthaHort, (polyanthus), andRanunculus acrisL. (buttercup), were found to have the biochemical characteristics ofPseudomonas cichorii(Swingle 1925) Stapp 1928 in laboratory tests, and to share common hosts in pathogenicity tests.Carthamus, Centaurea, andRanunculusare new hosts of the pathogen.Chrysanthemumis a new host of the pathogen in New Zealand.
