For safe operation of electrical power systems with a high proportion of decentralized power generating systems (PGS), it is necessary for individual power generating units (PGUs) to contribute to power grid support. For example, if there is a short-circuit in the electrical power system, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (entsoe) stipulates that PGUs must disconnect from the grid with a time delay of 0.5 seconds if the voltage at the grid connection point (GCP) decreases and remains at 0.85 of the rated voltage and if reactive power is simultaneously consumed.
