The title phrase is probably one of the best epitaphs that a scientist can hope for. It says realms about the relevance and quality of his or her research. It reflects on the commitment of the scientist to do appropriate work, to getting the job done, and also reflects on his or her ability to influence broader thinking. So it was indeed fitting that this statement was made as part of a tribute at the funeral of André Boshoff, and that it reflects André as a person and as a scientist.
