Effect of Bi_2O_3 addition (0 - 2.0 wt.) to lower the sintering temperature, T_s of Ni_(0.35)Cu_(0.15)Zn_(0.50)Fe_2O_4 ferrite has been investigated using conventional ceramic technique. X-ray diffraction study confirmed the single-phase spinel structure of all the samples under investigation. It was found that the sintering temperature could be reduced by 250℃ as compared to Ni-Cu-Zn ferrite when Bi_2O_3 ( > 1.2 wt.) was added to it. Post sintering density and the initial magnetic permeability of the sintered ferrite are strongly dependent on Bi_2O_3 content and sintering temperature. With the addition of 2.0 wt. Bi_2O_3, 97.5 of the theoretical density (T_s = 1000℃) and permeability of 600 (T_s = 1200℃) compared with that of 94 and 339, respectively, at T_s = 1200℃ without Bi_2O_3 addition, have been achieved. The Curie temperatures were found to be unaffected on bismuth concentration. The room temperature resistivity increases with increasing of bismuth addition.
