Studies on the Integrated Nutrient Management on Soil Fertility and Yield of Tea

A field experiment was initiated in a commercial tea estate of South Bank (Bokahola T.E.) in 2009 to see the effect of integrated nutrient supply in soil, its uptake and yield of tea. Results indicated that organic carbon, pH, bulk density and water stable aggregate were in suitable range and didn't show any significant difference between treatments. All the integrated treatments and 100% organic application could maintain higher build-up of available phosphate in soil. Results also revealed that 25% replacement of inorganic nitrogen by either 6 tonnes of vermicompost or by mixed bio-fertiliser maintained yield and leaf nitrogen on a par with control (100% recommended dose of fertilizer).
