Hannangan described the early service career of Charles Ansell and his taking over the business "Woodslde Ironworks" from the erstwhile owner Mr. Scott, that was renamed Ansell & Sons. In this part of the feature the writer portrays the devotion of Ansell in designing and manufacturing his own model of tea machineries, He took out several patents and for his Tea Sorting and Winnowing Machine, priced at 80 pound, received a Gold Medal at the Calcutta International Exhibition In 1834. Recognising his experience in working the turbines in the hilly tea gardens, Kilburn & Company engaged him and assigned to him the important ]ob of selecting the site of the country's first Hydro-electric plant, installed in Darjeellng District.
