The dermal route of exposure is the most important for most worker and operator activities. However, limited data are available for the mass of pesticide transferred or is available for transfer from non crop surfaces. Studies have been carried out toinvestigate dermal transfer of pesticides to greenhouse operators and workers during agricultural activities through contact with application equipment and other potentially contaminated hard surfaces. A protocol was developed based on a previous technique (Ramwell et al, 2006) for field studies in the Tympaki region of Crete, Greece. The objective of the study was to simulate pressure contact with a gloved hand (either dry or moistened to simulate sweat on the hands) by loading a weight onto samplingmatrices (dosimeters) in contact with a range of surfaces on which known amounts of an SC (Suspension Concentrate) pesticide formulation had been applied.
