A few years ago, computer security meant protecting yourself from viruses and changing passwords. Today, computer security is much more complex and viruses have fallen to the background. So how does one chose the best virus product today? What does one look for? This article provides some insight and suggestions. Someone once said, "Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's right. What's right isn't always popular." The same can be said of anti-virus software. Just because software is popular does not mean that it is the best software. Selecting "the best" anti-virus software is difficult for many reasons. Some individuals simply stake their opinions based on personal experience. While valuable, personal experience is not representative of all environments and personal interests and needs in regard to the selection and functionality of anti-virus software. Total sales and "leadership" of a software package in the market may not indicate the best solution either. Rather, it may simply represent an easy-to-use graphical user interface and strong marketing and sales department.
