Cord factor (trehalose 6,6'-dimycolate, TDM) is one of the mostcharacteristic component of acid fast bacterial. As TDM locates onthe bacterial surface, it is assumed to be recognized easily byimmunological competent cells and to affect on immune response of thehost animals. The biological activities of TDM such as granulomaforming activity, adjuvant effect and anti-tumor activity have beeninvestigated, however, antigenicity of TDM has not been wellcharacterized because TDM has strong hydrophobicity.
