A state-space method for generating a class of multi-variable positive-real functions from its given odd part is described. The procedure makes use of the state-variable realization procedures in the Jordan form. The realization so obtained is rewritten in a form so that the eigenvalues in the two halves of the.v-plane are clearly distinguishable. The eigenvalues in the open right-half plane are neglected and the multi-variable positive-real function belonging to the class is obtained using known techniques.
