Developer Hammerson is to continue its pound;180m Northgate scheme around Bishopsgate Goods Yard in the City of London, despite signs of a market slowdown. The developer will submit a planning application to Hackney council in the next few months for a 100,000 m~2 scheme that could rise to 25 storeys. The news comes amid reports last week that developer Minerva could shelve plans for its 50-storey skyscraper at nearby Aldgate in east London. The Minerva Tower, designed by Grimshaw, could be built as a 50,000 m~2 low-rise scheme, rather than the current 100,000 m~2 design.
