On Monday morning, 25 July 2011, Christchurch awoke to snow so low that it covered the beaches. A power failure that morning brought things at my home to a standstill, so to fill in some time I drove down to the Ferrymead Heritage Park to photograph the wintry scene. With the park closed for the day, and no one about, the thin veneer of virgin snow was unmarked. Even without anything working on either the railway or the tramway, opportunities for photography abounded in the changing light.
