The publication of the 100th Volume of Science Progress gives an opportunity to look back on the science current in 1917, and to reflect on the incredible changes to the nature of the science studied today, but also to identify some areas where change has been surprisingly limited. The science recorded in the early volumes of Science Progress was largely UK-centric; one notable difference between then and now is the truly international scale of scientific research.
