FINAL REPORT: Forget any notion that the 1M isn't a real M-car; after 10,000 miles in ours, we're convinced that it ticks all the right boxes. For some reason, there's still a certain type of person who doubts the 1-series M Coupe's credence as a fully paid-up member of BMW's M club. They say that because of its turbocharged engine and its parts bin engineering ethos, the 1M isn't somehow the real deal. They even go so far as to claim that the 1M has damaged the reputation of the M division, and that history will not remember it kindly as a result.
