Pseudomonas tomato(Okabe 1933) Alstatt 1944 is recorded in New Zealand causing a disease known as bacterial speck, which was reported earlier (Reid 1948) to be caused byPs. punctulans(Bryan 1933) Dowson 1943. Symptoms are described and the physiological and biochcmical characters of New Zealand isolates are compared withPs. tomato and Ps. punctulansfrom overseas collections.
