Testing comes closer to reality

In close co-operation with Instron Structural Testing Systems (IST), German carmaker manufacturer Adam Opel has installed a "deterioration" test rig for complete vehicles, enabling extreme mechanical and environmental fatigue loads to be simulated in the laboratory in the minimum time. Novel features of the testing system are the patented flat roadway units mounted on vertical Hydropuls linear actuators, on which the driven wheels of the vehicle are able to run as if under actual road driving conditions.
