Tc-99m tagged RBC SPECT imaging has been proven a sensitive means of detecting portosystemic venous collaterals in patients with cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Presented is a case of a 54-year-old man with a history of long-term alcohol abuse, cirrhosis with portal hypertension, and other complications. A Tc-99mndash;tagged RBC SPECT examination, performed to evaluate the liver for a cavernous hemangioma, demonstrated a tortuous, dilated umbilical vein and multiple dilated superficial paraumbilical veinscolon; caput medusae.
