摘要

DRIP IRRIGATION, often regulated with the aid of soil moisture monitoring devices, has been one of the major contributors to water-saving and production efficiency in Australian vineyards. There has been increasing industry interest, however, in usingplant-based measurements of the water requirements of vines. One of the reasons is that growers have observed that under the same set of soil moisture and climatic conditions, different varieties have different behaviour. And because vines are living things with their own circulatory system and inherent set of response mechanisms, there is interest in taking signals from the plant and not the soil alone.
