Influence of residual soil moisture on lentil (Lens culinaris) yield under perennial pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) hedge row

A study was conducted during 1996-97 to 1998-99 with perennial pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) (var. ICP-88040) grown in paired rows at 1.20 m X 0.50 m spacing on lower edge of the plot under ragi/kodo millet-lentil cropping sequences. Pigeonpea was maintained as a hedge row by cutting the plants at maturity at 50 cm height. Lentil grown in combination with pigeonpea hedge row after harvest of kodomillet, gave the maximum lentil equivalent production.
