LIPOSOMES IN TARGETED DRUG DELIVERY

Liposomes are microparticulate lipoidal vesicles which are under extensive investigation as drug carriers for improving the delivery of therapeutic agents. Due to new developments in Nposome technology, several liposome-based drug formulations are currently in clinical trials, and recently some of them have been approved for clinical use. In order to improve its targeting therapeutic effect, in recent years, scientists dedicated to research on new iiposomes, such as immunoiiposomes, glycolipid-modified liposomes, immuno liposomes, magnetic iiposomes, long circulating liposomes etc. AH these delivery agents were proved to be effective to improve the clinical efficacy of drugs, and each is discussed in detail with examples.
