Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuance (BC) are often used, incorrectly, as interchange-aisle terms. The Disaster Recovery Institute defines DR as the recovery of an organization's information technology infrastructure; BC is seen as recovery of the capability to continue doing business. DR is more often than not a pre-requisite for BC, but being able to recover a company's information technology infrastructure alone does not, de facto, provide a BC capability.
