Carotid and femoral intima-media thickness in non-insulin-dependent diabetic patients

AIM-The aim of this study is to evaluate the atheroscleroticchanges in carotid and femoral arteries and to investigate the riskfactors for femoral and carotid atherosclerosis in patients withnon-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). PATIENTS ANDMETHODS-B-mode ultrasound imaging was conducted to non- invasivelydetermine the intima-media thickness (IMT) of the arterial wall inthe common carotid artery and common femoral artery in 383 NIDDMpatients and 108 health subjects.
