Role of Blended Granulated Fertilisers in Integrated Nutrient Management

Since Independence,India has made rapid strides in agriculture.This is due,in large measure,to the expansion of capacity in the country's fertiliser industry.It is estimated that fertiliser application alone has contributed to 50% of the crop productivity.Nevertheless,the nation still faces the challenge of limited availability with regard to customised fertiliser products that are ready-to-use and are soil and crop-specific.With most of the fertiliser grades currently being manufactured in the country,there is a mismatch between the ratio of nutrients available and the ratios required for basal application to specific crops.There is thus an overwhelming need for a concerted effort in developing appropriate fertiliser types that are agronomically sound,technically feasible,economically efficient and environment-friendly.
