A Simple Phase-Sequence and Phase-Lead/Lag Detector

A simple and inexpensive circuit suitable for detecting phase sequence in a three-phase system and for determining the phase lead-lag between two alternating voltages is described. The circuit works satisfactorily even for very large unbalances in the first application and over almost the complete angle-range of 0 to 180 degrees in the second application.
