A shortage of rail wagons is driving up cement prices at a time when demand from the realty sector is showing signs of revival. Companies recently increased prices for the second time in December citing distruption in the distribution channel. As a result, cement is dearer by 5 rupees to 8 rupees for a 50-kg bag in most parts of the country from the first week of December.
