Role of Social Thinkers, Scientists, Technocrats and Economists for a Sustainable Socio Economic Development of India

The Durgapur Local Centre of the Institution organized a two-day All India Seminar on 'Role of Social Thinkers, Scientists, Technocrats and Economists for a Sustainable Socio Economic Development of India' under the aegis of Interdisciplinary Coordination Committee, IEI during September 6-7, 2014 at Durgapur. The Chief Guest, Dr K C Ghanta, Distinguished Professor and Scientist, NIT, Durgapur, in his inaugural address, stated that the engineers, scientists and economists have got a very crucial role in developing a society. While speaking on sustainable technology, he stressed that use of natural resources should be controlled. He also deliberated on Clean Coal Technology, carbon capture, carbon foot print, etc. The Guest-of-Honour Mr Dhruba Banerjee, General Manager, SAIL, Durgapur Steel Plant, Durgapur, gave presentation on sustained clean rolling technology of steel.
