A comprehensive list of East Anglian sites rich in aviation history has been launched by Military Aviation Heritage Networks. The trail features 30 historic airfields, museums and memorials ranging from Great War-era sites to Cold War bases. They include strips used by the RAF's Fighter and Bomber Commands during the Battle of Britain and the bomber offensive against Germany. The area is also well known for having a large concentration of US Air Force airfields. Among the array of historic buildings on the trail, there is an atomic bomber base, a radar transmitter block, an anti-aircraft gun dome, control towers and numerous airfields and aircraft hangars. These represent fascinating reminders of aviation heritage and they are accessible to the public.
