Rick Sparber's article reminded me of a fixture I made during my apprenticeship, one that helped me realize that I needed to view part fixturing on the CNC in an entirely different way than I had with manual machining. I was tasked with setting up a CNC mill to drill and ream a hole in a small run of aluminum parts. There's not much that's difficult about drilling and reaming a hole, but when the hole is located on a compound angle in a part with curves, protrusions, and not a single flat spot it becomes a little tougher.
