摘要

Abstract Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is one part of the electromagnetic spectrum. UVA comprises more than 90 of the solar UV radiation reaching the Earth. The present study was to examine the biological effects of UVA radiation on rats skin histomorphology, immunohistochemistry and fine structure of the skin cells. The study was carried on forty male rats weighing (180–200?gm). The rats were divided into four groups (10 rats for each): as one control and three experimental groups exposed to continuously UVA radiation (24?h/d) for 17, 27, and 59?days. The dorsal area of the rats was shaved and exposed to UVA radiation. The histopathological changes of the skin tissue were examined under the light microscope and transmission electron microscope. The results revealed a mild to marked histopathological changes in the skin tissue associated with increased to UVA exposure. A significant statistical decrease p?>?0.05 in the keratin and increase in the epidermal layer follow the increase to UVA exposure, also, a significant statistical increase in the new blood capillaries and small vessels formed are observed. The fine structure observed disorganize keratins surface and keratinocytes as well as necrotic melanocytes due to the high doses of the UVA exposure. Therefore, the study showed that the increasing of the accumulative UVA exposure, induced more exposure dose which caused a marked degenerative and disorganized skin cells.
