Many USMA readers have seen my name associated with many articles in Metric Today, as a speaker at USMA conferences, and as a Certified Advanced Metrication Specialist (CAMS). I was asked to share with you a bit of my experience as a "metric" consultant, helping client companies to phase-in ISO, DIN, and similar metric documentary standards and practices. The SI units were established in 1960, as Metric Today readers undoubtedly know. Thereafter, ail countries of the world were to phase in the worldwide-prevalent units and practices. My task as a consultant and trainer was to, first, make a key team in an organization aware of what that "conversion" amounts to in their particular situation. Then, train everybody to become "fluent" in the standards pertinent to their employment. Finally, help the company develop written standards so everybody has a means to check what is new and correct.
