Abstract Behavior of light through biological tissues has been widely explored for diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. The photons traveling through?human skin undergo phenomenon such as absorption, scattering, and anisotropy. Traditional investigations of photon penetration?at?various wavelengths?have?ignored?the?heterogeneity?inside the tissue. Detections of biomarkers and further treatment still need more exploration for signal enhancement and superior behavior. Recently Nanotechnology is seen as a potential area of exploration with the tuning of nano-particles (size, form, aspect ratio) in biomedical applications. Tailoring of suitable plasmonic nano-materials utilizing surface plasmon resonance (SPR) can result in significant signal enhancement improvement. This paper presents an exploration of SPR using Gold and Silver nano-particles of varying dimensions for biological tissues. It proposes novel plasmonic platform layered by glass substrate as bottom layer, followed by middle layer of small nano-particles (SNPs) with variation in radius from .2 to .4?nm and top layer of large nano-particles (LNPs) of radius 1?nm. On measuring the absorbance of light for biological tissue with proposed plasmonic structure over the range 500–900?nm the best performance achieved with Silver is absorbance of 4.06?×?10?21 at 640?nm having LNP?+?SNP 1?nm, .4?nm. The similar dimensions plasmonic structure with Gold deliver absorbance of 2. 10?×?10?21 at 631?nm which can be attributed to the fact of better light absorption by silver due to different electronic properties.
