Wisely is it written: You learn more from your mistakes than from your successes. When I began recreating a Tektronix Circuit Computer circular slide rule from the 1960s using contemporary home shop CNC machinery, I had no idea how much learning lay ahead! Photo 1 shows my most recent learning experience. As you saw in DM 15.1, my CNC-301 8XL gantry router (a hot-rodded CNC-3018) draws the logarithmic scales on heavy paper with a fine-tip ballpoint pen cartridge. I encase the paper in protective plastic with a thermal laminator, then cut the deck and window outlines with a drag knife on my MPCNC, as described in DM 14.2.
