On 15 December 2021, the Government published an amendment to the Building Regulations and launched Approved Documents to cover the installation of infrastructure for the charging of electric vehicles, in both residential and non-residential buildings, in England. The amendment is the latest in a line of initiatives to increase the number of electric charging points available, to support the growth in plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) on the UK's roads. As a result of introducing these regulations, the Government "expects up to 145,000 charge points to be installed every year".
