摘要

Abstract We have demonstrated and distinguished the effect of frequency selective fading (FSF) of a novel low-cost scheme to generate orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals for Radio over fiber (ROF) systems using fiber Bragg grating (FBG). We employ the FBG because the repetitive frequency of the RF source and the bandwidth of the optical modulator is largely reduced and the architecture of the ROF system is simpler. For distinguishing the effect of FSF, the simulated RF spectrums of detected OFDM signal after 20?km Standard Single-mode Fiber (SSMF) with different bandwidths are shown. The results clarify that a simple direct-detection orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system demands low bandwidth design. This novel scheme which has multiple double-frequency techniques to generate mm-wave signals to carry OFDM signals is attractive for the future cost-effective systems.
